This is exactly the kind of weekend knitting project that keeps you interested and hooked. You know - like really good murder story. It evolves like lace and revolves like cables.
Pattern is written for 3 sizes (measured by hand circumference):
- S - 18 cm /7 inches
- M - 19 cm / 7,5 inches
- L - 20 cm / 8 inches
Stitch used is very flexible and stretchy so if you have larger hands then it's not a problem.
To start knitting right away you'll need:
- double pointed needles size 3 mm / US 2,5
- cable needle
- stitch holder
- 4 ply fingering yarn 3.6 oz (100 g) = approx 382 yds (350 m)
Instructions are very thorough containing written instructions as well as charts. Step by step tutorial will get you through the thumb gusset and you can choose whether you'd like to knit ordinary mittens or fingerless gloves. Also, you can choose either longer cuffs or shorter cuffs, as an extra bonus.
All this gives you an option to knit ordinary mittens for yourself and modern long cuffed fingerless gloves for your granddaughter :)
Pattern is meant for intermediate knitters, but if you're willing to learn and try then I think you can handle it. Just make sure you've knit some cables and some easier lace. And I'm here to help :)
